Vacation in Hawaii

Had a great time in Hawaii---as you can see from the pictures.  Photos divided up between two albums, one featuring Grandma, so Forrest & Greg can easily see everything she did.  She's amazing---she had more stamina than the rest of us.  We were all suffering from the time change; she didn't know the difference, just went by the clock---and was just fine!  (Maybe that proves the new theory that there really isn't such a thing as jet-lag!)

Mom's Birthday Party

Another Family Party at the JenBob wing of the house.  This time Rusty  braved the onslaught of the entire family at once, but fit in nicely with the usual rowdy lightmindedness of the group.  Thanks for the cards & gifts, everyone, and for your hospitality, JenBob, and the yummy cake & ice cream, and the wavy candles.  Got pictures of everything else!

Memorial Day 2006

Had a fun Memorial Day with Bob revving up his new barbeque, lots of food, playing in the pool with the kids, laughing, and general carrying on---as usual.  Missed Ken, who had to work, but everyone else was there!  I love you guys!!!!

Mothers Day 2006

Had one of the best weekends of my life, with Jen/Bob taking me (and their grandma) out for dinner at our favorite Chinese restaurant, Taste of China, Saturday night, and then the rest of the kids & grandkids coming over for Mothers Day---They really spoiled me with beautiful cards, flowers, gifts, food, lots of laughter and fun conversations.  I have the best kids in the whole world!  And that includes the wonderful sons-in-law.  The fun went on with Rachie & Heather hanging out with me until 11 PM!

Easter

The mob came over and we had such a GREAT time on Easter!!  Jen/Bob helped color eggs the day before and the Easter Bunny hid them for the kids to find---and check out the big guys running around with their little Easter baskets.  And Heather was there, even if she didn't get in any pictures this time.

2006

The first few months of 2006 have gone by so fast I've neglected the blog.  Finally got a new album on with some of the pictures taken so far this year---Ally's 3rd birthday, Gwen's wedding in Manti, Mom (Grandma/Great Grandma) coming to visit, then to stay, Johnna's birthday party, Rachel, Will & Rusty, and Rachel's & Jennifer's birthday party.

Decorating the Tree

Latest pictures are of some of the kids over to decorate my tree.  They always enjoy looking at all the old ornaments, some made by them as children, and reminisce.

Heather & Grant's Birthdays

Had the usual fun, frivolty & light-mindedness for Heather & Grant's birthdays, both on the same day, October 25; also had lasagna, etc. and 3 birthday cakes---thanks to Jen/Bob.  You guys are all getting OLD!!!  (ha ha)

October General Conference

Had a nice Conference weekend at Jen & Bob's.  Johnna & Austinn came down to spend the weekend while Grant was out of town---helping his team to WIN the Australian Football Tournament in Milwaukee.  Congratulations to Grant and the team!  He must have had a great time (in spite of breaking one finger!).  Anyway, here's some pictures---had to show Jennifer's Smiley pajama bottoms (Bob's are cute, too) and Austinn showing he learned where his tummy is.

Latest Happenings

August has been a fun month with my trip to Ogden with Jen & Bob to celebrate my mother's 88th birthday, a spur-of-the-moment side-trip to Las Vegas with Kathy to surprise her 93-year old mother who drove up there from California with her husband, my High School class reunion (who are all those OLD people??), and Austinn's first birthday party.
Speaking of old, the Malihini Haole Wahines made a big come-back performance at the party for my mom, Kathy & I squeezing into the old costumes and dancing the hula and the Tahitian.  Actually, Kathy's still fits, but notice the gap in the back of my Tahitian skirt--and how it fits closer to the waist now than the hips.  Oh, well, we just had so much fun anyway.  Jennifer sang "Snowbird" for old times' sake: she used to sing it as a child.  And Bob was perfect as our latest "Princess Pupule," Kathy's husband Nick's old role...in a yarn wig Kathy thought up for us to make at the last minute, as well as great in his "All That Jazz" number.
We made it to Las Vegas in spite of Kathy's car over-heating and having to travel the last hour in 103 degree heat without using the air-conditioner.  We did pretty well to endure this at our age, putting up with that and our hot flashes at the same time.  Rachel, I know how you like unusual purses, so I took a couple of pictures of some I saw while we were in Vegas in case you want to make some like them.
A few days after returning from Utah, we had Austinn's first birthday party...plenty of presents, plenty of fun, and plenty of fire in the grill (thanks for cooking for us, Bob).  And one candle on the cake.

July Birthdays

Had a family party at Heidi & Ken's for Jordan, Conner and Heidi---all celebrating birthdays in July.  Had the usual fun, frivolity, & lightmindedness.  With lots of sugar in our veins, some of us played with the birthday toys outside and jumped on the trampoline.  Saving the snowboard (from Ryan & Heather) for winter.

Made 2004 Album

Just added year 2004 album, but ran out of memory to add all the pictures I wanted to it, so it's small.  Will work on deleting some of the other pictures in other albums to free up space for more pictures.  Will be putting all the pictures on disc for you guys anyway.

Summer Days

Hi, kids,
Lazy summer days are here with my piano students on vacation and me just doing my day trading, so had time to start organizing the family pictures.  Latest entry here is an album of favorite pictures from the whole year of 2003.  Time goes by so fast & we forget much of what we did!  So look at 'em and reminisce....Little Ally was born, the boys were growing fast, Johnna came home from Australia, she also jumped off "The Rock" at Waimea, Grant came here, we all got together for all the holidays and the many birthdays, and, in spite of The Fire, it was a good year.  You guys are all so great, and make our family so much fun with all your love and laughter!  Meanwhile, I'll be working on our pictures from 2004.
Love,
Mom

4th of July weekend

Had a great weekend with the boys (and their friend) sleeping over on Sunday night and then the family coming over Monday the 4th for a barbeque and swimming all afternoon.  Thanks, Grant, for enduring the smoke & flame with all the cooking, and thanks everyone for providing so much fun and helping with the food.  We had two kinds of bratwurst, chicken, ribs, popovers, two kinds of salad, scalloped potatoes, chips, soda, fruit, the "Flag" dessert, and didn't even get around to the watermelon.  Later Johnna & I went to "War of the Worlds" and loved it!

Welcome home, JenBob!

Jennifer and Bob (otherwise known as "the JenBob") just got home from visiting our old home---Hawaii.  Welcome home!  We missed you!  The photos, taken the day after they got back, show them reinforcing their tans before returning to the grind come Monday morning.  I'll add the pictures they took when they send them to me.  This time Larry went with them; next time, I'm going!!

7-17-05  Added the few pictures they took that they had e-mailed to me; still don't have the others they took.

Alec & Rachie's Fashion Show

Tonight Johnna and I went to Alec & Rachie's fashion show at an art gallery downtown.  Lots of fun, sassy models (including Rachie), and dozens of fantastic outfits that she and Alec have been busy sewing.  Ryan was there, Terry, Clint, and plenty of other friends---looked like well over a hundred people.

Happy Birthday to Me

Today was my birthday and it was pretty good, for getting older....MerriLinn took me to lunch at Red Lobster and my kids took me to dinner at The Elephant Bar....My favorite thing is eating out, so what could be better?  I have such great kids....really fine human beings who contribute to society, and seem to be coping with life.  I'm glad they turned out well.  I hope they know how much I love them!  Also, I really love & enjoy all my grandchildren: Jordan, Conner, Brennan, Ally, and Austinn!  Thank you, everybody, for such a great time and all the cards & stuff, and for being so good to me!  Photos are posted.

Father's Day 2005

Johnna & Grant came over for dinner to celebrate Grant's first Father's Day as a new father of little 10-month-old Austinn.  Austinn entertained us by showing us how he was learning to stand up all by himself.  We ate steaks & brats cooked on the grill with all the trimmings, and watched old Charlie Chaplin movies.  Johnna & I wanted to do the cooking but are so inexperienced with cooking on the grill that Grant ended up taking over...and it turned out perfectly.
